This time the tip of the week is from Donna...
Stitching is a popular technique for adding texture and lovely details to your scrapbook pages. I stitch by following these basic steps:
1. Lightly sketch your design with a pencil. I freehand the design or use a template (the doodle genie is a great doodling template).
2. Use a paper piercer to put holes along the sketched pencil lines, try to keep even spacing between each hole. Erase all the pencil markings from the page. Because the holes have already been pierced, it's easy to see where to stitch.
Tip: Don't pierce your holes too close together. When the holes are too close, it's easier to cause an unwanted tear in your layout.
3. Thread a large needle and stitch the design following your already pierced holes.
Tip: Thread your needle with two colours of embroidery floss for additional visual interest.
Variation: Try this technique using a rubber stamp and a watermark inkpad (we stock VersaMark). Simply pierce the holes along the stamped image and then stitch!
